In the wake of the election and as we move into 2025, media literacy is more important than ever. Media Literacy Now (www.medialiteracynow.org) advocates to get media literacy education into K-12 schools so the next generation is well-equipped. I also donate to my local PBS station, library, & ACLU. I also have purchased some of EmilyInYourPhone's merch to support her amazing & informative content!
Thank you for lifting up local abortion funds! I don’t think this is widely known, but starting in July Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation, which previously had paid 50% of costs for an abortion at member clinics, cut that to 30%. The funds have had to absorb this cost difference and it’s really affecting everyone’s ability to meaningfully assist people (the fund I volunteer for has been running out of money approximately halfway through the month now; thank goodness our legislature passed Medicaid funding and it starts in January!). It’s been really, really bad for independent clinics and funds that are already so stretched. https://rewirenewsgroup.com/2024/08/13/following-national-funding-cuts-july-was-pure-hell-for-abortion-funds/
I donated to Pregnancy After Loss Support, a small nonprofit that supports parents who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss, as they continue to build their families. This includes parents who have terminated for medical reasons, a heartbreaking situation which has become so politicized and the abortion bans are horrifically affecting these parents. They need all the support they can get. PALS created the only pregnancy app specifically geared towards the parent who is pregnant after loss and they have many other resources, including educating healthcare professionals and advocacy. And they’re launching new programs in 2025 to support marginalized and at-risk communities. You can donate here: https://pregnancyafterlosssupport.org/ways-to-give/10-years-10000-names-campaign/#give
