Welcome back Emily! Do take care. I would give one note to that call script and suggest not using war planning since they are using semantics as a cop out here. Something along the lines of active military operations planning or active military strike planning. More of a mouth full, but more precise and not as easily dismissed as inaccurate wording.

Enough. I’m trying to psych myself up to train for a rim to rim hike at the grand canyon with friends, but this would be so hard for me! Sounds like I need to read this book! Hope you continue to rest and feel better soon!

Oooh, I just want to send you encouragement for this!! Admittedly I would have some trepidation now, but I did R2R like 20 years ago and count it among my favorite experiences and achievements. The Canyon is just such a special place and comparatively few people get to have this experience. Good luck!

Also, good to see you again. May you find a good balance between rest and action that is sustainable and feels right for you. And I hope it helps you in countless ways as you implement that in your life. Thank you for all you do.

Hi Emily - wanted to share that my book club read Democracy in Retrograde last month! We are a group of moms of young kids in our late 30s-early 40s in GA and wanted to read something that would guide us into doing *something* about the state of things. We found out we are already doing a lot of the things you suggest in the book, but had a great discussion and have been encouraged to lean in to the things we are already doing, as well as get more involved in our community and local politics. One member shared that a bill has just been introduced to the state house by our MAGA representatives to hand over control of our city's board of elections to judges instead of the mayor and commission, and we are all calling and emailing!! I don't have any group pics to share on Instagram but wanted to let you know anyway and to thank you for your inspiration!

Enough! I have a Little Free Library in my yard and would love a copy of this book for the community. Glad to hear you are resting. I tell my yoga students that rest is equally as important as work.

Sending good thoughts your way for healing and renewal. I am newer to this space--I want to share a small win--I am getting to know my Rep's DC office from all the calls I have made. Because of this some real advocacy work happened today and I now have a name and a number to call at my local office if anything else arises that I see or learn from my community. There was just too much serendipitous activity going on to discount it, so I am leaning into the hope this action brings to this present moment and the community in need today.

We miss you and please take your time getting back to it. I am so happy you are setting an example to rest and recuperate. I will be doing a quarterly look at my 2025 goals this weekend and will include a "done" list in that review.

Also if there are any resources to help with funding for healthcare research, please share. It’s hard to know what organizations are trustworthy and will be putting up a fight rather than just folding to the administration’s demands

Yeah those shoes definitely look like my 2006 Pumas. I did love those shoes though!

This book sounds incredibly interesting. I'm putting it on my tbr for sure. Those shoes are not meant for my 40+ year old feet. I can tell they are not orthotic lol!

Thank you for this post. I especially loved the article about how to be a thoughtful friend. I’ve long thought of creating a note for friends and this is my push to do it. TY ♥️

Activism question: I’ve slowed down on reaching out to my reps lately. Partly due to burnout partly because it feels as if we’re operating on vastly separate realities with this admin. If we have an administration that defies the constitution over and over and even defies court orders, we are certainly operating in different realities of jurisprudence and legislation, etc. If thats happening, it feels futile to call my senator and demand xyz on a certain issue. Is what we’re doing still helping? Or are there different strategies we should launch given the circumstances? I’m feeling v lost.
