In her new book Flip the Tables, she argues that the labels meant to silence us - too aggressive, too emotional, too much -are often proof we’re doing something right.
It is so true that disruptors are not appreciated in the moment! I was reading a Life article about MLK Jr. from the 60’s recently, and was amazed at the difference in tone from what we read about him today.
As an American citizen who has been arrested for fighting back against trump and his minions (Wednesday, March 12, Hart Senate Building), I am appalled by Schumer's vote for cloture today.
I'm 69 years old and suffering with chronic migraine, yet I put myself on the line for Medicaid and for democracy, along with 35 other courageous Americans. Schumer should do no less.
Until we Democrats have a Senate leader with courage, I will not make donations to DSCC. And I will actively work to see that Schumer is not reelected.
I want to be like Alencia! I will be buying her book and doing my part, including the self-care.
And, Emily, I want to thank you for referring us to Bookshop.org to buy Alencia's book. Bookshop.org represents independent bookstores around the county. Every time you buy a book from Bookshop.org a percentage goes to your bookseller of choice. It's a win/win way to shop for books, especially if there is no independent bookstore nearby. It's so refreshing not to see a link to that other place that starts with A...mazon. Thank you for being conscientious when recommending where to buy books. Spoken from a retired bookseller.
This conversation resonated with me so much. Since the election I’ve had a hard time seeing how small acts can have any impact at all when there is so much scary stuff happening. I’m finally starting to see it and believe it though.
I am sitting here CRYING with the relief and joy of feeling so seen by this manifesto, and I cannot wait to buy it and gift it as often as possible.
THIS IS WHAT WE NEEDED RIGHT NOW MORE THAN ANYTHING. Thank you Alencia for being the one who was able to write this.
Loud difficult women unite 💪💪💪💪💪
That’s a club I want to be a part of!

Waking up to this as my first read of the day is exactly what I need! Looking forward to reading the book!
Have you seen that most of this disruptors seem to be women?😬 oh men, where are you?
