There is so much “profit” in healthcare now and VC are taking advantage of this. (Sorry I couldn’t think of a better way to write that sentence). But healthcare and hospital systems are being bought out and profit has become extremely important. This will be the downfall of our healthcare system… the final straw. There is a small push back to private practice from doctors, but most are not taking health insurance (whole other topics). So while they can run their practice and serve their patients well, not every person has access to this for many reasons.
Emily you have called all the things and I appreciate your work and look to you as the “Cassandra” of it all. I hope you have luck at the Mayo Clinic-I went there 1.5 years ago (Minnesota location) for care for a chronic condition and the whole experience was amazing. They do healthcare like no other. I hope you have a similar positive experience ❤️🩹
Hello! I'm a new subscriber here, my first paid Substack subscription. I truly appreciate how you see the bigger picture & share that perspective with all of us. We'll always have struggles, in all of the realms, so we must also always choose hope. We will come through this, though in varying levels of difficulty depending on our own personal circumstance, but we will learn valuable lessons along the way. Sending you all the love & hugs as you navigate this health crisis. Thank you for being you!
I’m not a billionaire backer but I do really want to put my modest money where my mouth is and support progressive influencers. Have my head out of the sand about this now, and I also want to read productive things. So. Bought your book. Subscribed to your Substack and Abortion Everyday. And will keep building from here. Thank you Emily.
Blacking out and falling sounds terrifying. I hope you have a shower stool, plush rugs to break your fall, etc etc—and people in your real life checking in on you. And thanks for updating us; we worry about you. Fingers crossed that the Mayo Clinic will have better insights and better treatments.
I appreciate you SO very much, Emily! You continue to show up, educate and inform all of us while also trying so hard to take care of yourself. You’ve answered my silly questions along the way and I’m so grateful to have connected with you in all of this.
Everyone needs to go buy copies of DEMOCRACY IN RETROGRADE to continue supporting you and to inspire our friends to keep doing the work!
Hi Emily! New subscriber here and I’m really finding comfort in your writing / information, so thank you for being here despite all you are dealing with personally. I hope you find the answers you need soon! In regard to reaching women… it’s so hard to know. The women in my life who chose to vote for him, were due to lack of knowledge on all topics, including reproductive healthcare. They blindly take their husband’s or father’s word on what is the “right” thing to do or person to vote for. A lot of it comes down to religious upbringing or the media the watch. It feels like we need to get into ppl’s news cycles or media in a different way than we have before. Get them real information somehow.
Thank you for this, I especially loved the links. ♥️ the rage is still there, but being reminded to take a minute is extremely helpful. The desire to go scorched earth at the mom at the park with the MAGA hat isn’t going to help anything. I don’t think I have any answers yet, but would love a copy of democracy in retrograde
Don’t let the healthcare system fool you in to thinking the problems with our healthcare system is ONLY doctor’s faults. Most doctors are being thrown in to big business hospital systems and clinics whose main goal is profit. This is at the expense of doctors who are seeing too many patients a day and experiencing burnout. I hope we can find a solution to our health care systems problems. I also hope you can find a doctor who can help you. Don’t give up. 🫶. I have the book already as an audiobook but would love a copy to share with friends who are looking to get more involved in politics
Sending gratitude and healing wishes your way! You are an inspiration for all, but perhaps especially those of us living with chronic illness. Love and hugs
Thank you for all you do! Please get some rest and recovery (also the starfish quote made me tear up as I think about how I can help my neighbors who are vulnerable but can’t save everyone)
Thank you for the update, Emily! Healing vibes to you! Recently upgraded to paid and I appreciate the work you are doing even through your personal health journey.
Humans really do need to be put back at the center of the healthcare system.
Health insurance is another big factor in moving the focus off humans and on to profits.
Sending good vibes to you Emily, and I truly hope you find your answers when you go to Mayo Clinic!!
