Taking a flag to “No Kings” here in Plymouth, MA. I’m a terrible artist but want to have a sign showing Trump on a toilet with “The Only Throne He Deserves.”
I fully support taking back the flag. I will say that this weekend I’m fully unplugging. It’s our anniversary. We are taking a much needed getaway. My brain needs the break. And after the whole ear thing was during my bday weekend last year, I’m out on this one. I will lend my support in other ways.
My birthday (a milestone one none-the-less) is June 14. I’ve asked for an American flag that I can hang on my apartment balcony. I’m proud of America _and_ recognize the injustices that have been here since the beginning. We can and should do better. With liberty and justice for all.
I love the idea of taking the flag imagery back. Trump's supporters try to make it their own but then they just make it tacky, or worse, display their special versions with different stripes for various first responders... you know, the same folks who they proclaim to support but who also got beaten and killed during J6, or like the LAPD who said they didn't need help from the Guard, but their word wasn't good enough now. Doesn't fit the optics. I like that Old Navy sweater, and the price tag!
p.s. I would add that gutting the departments of education and health serves his king-like motives as well - it keeps the populace too sick and too uneducated to fight. 🫠
I don't go to protests, it's not my thing. I think all actions are cumulative, so it's great this is being organized. I think the message behind no-kings is much more effective for people not already bought in than the previous ones.
The main complaint I've heard about other protests is that it's mostly boomers, I think this is in part due to the fact that it's being organized by Indivisble, whose membership is mostly boomers. It will be interesting to see if - given the time they've had to organized and the increasing number of groups they are workign with - if this time it's different. It's also a saturday in June so more people will be available.
I’ve been talking about this with friends the past couple years. My husband mentioned once, oh look the American flag at another maga house, and didn’t want to be aligned with that. But I’ve insisted on decorating with flags for 4th of July (my fav holiday) trying to show the flag is for everyone in our country. This year I want to add an anti-trump yard sign though, any suggestions?!

Hi Emily, I was wondering what your thoughts are on the No Kings Day protests? Are you joining one? Thanks so much!

This list reads like the Declaration of Independence, which was also about a king!
Adding this American flag sweater link — it’s a little pricey but nice because it’s only blue and white (no red!)
